Death

Sometimes warnings are given, and hearts are told to be ready.
Other times, the heart is never ready.
One phone call or one visit,
And that is all it takes to change the lives of those who remain.
It does not sting with mercy.
It does not boast.
It does not comfort.
But it leaves the heart wounded with questions.
Many may never be answered in this life.
Sometimes it whispers in a dream to a family member or
friend that this is the end of the one loved.
Sometimes it ends the story in sleep.
Other times, it comes through an accident, a wound, or substances.
It feels permanent.
It fuels darkness.
It depletes strength.
It shakes many strong people.
Yet those of Christian faith go through this with one hope:
that death is a temporary transition.
One day, they will reunite with their Heavenly Father.
The One who has guided them on Earth and through its challenges.
So there was never a competition between death and Jesus.
He has already defeated it.
Those who follow Him will one day be welcomed home.

So true! Deep and profound.
